There are two state parks in Bastrop, Bastrop State Park and Buescher State Park. Bastrop State Park is a very large park, spanning 5,926 acres. It is in this park that you will find the Lost Pines golf course. There are camping facilities available for you use here, just in case you and your family would like to have an adventure outside. There are a ton of activities for the outdoor enthusiast, such as night hiking and Frog and Toad Watching. While here, visitors can canoe, camp, swim, bike and much more around the bike grounds.

Lake Bastrop is found north of the eponymous town. This lake is 906 acres in size, and has recreation centers on its northern and southern shores. While not busy with the chores of everyday life, this is a relaxing and fulfilling place to visit. There are boat launching ramps here, for those who want to boat or sail around this large lake. Keep in mind that sailboats with masts taller than 20 feet are prohibited as they may interfere with the power lines around the lake. Lake Bastrop is great for fishing as well, and there are many fishing piers that dot its northern shorelines. It is possible to go camping on the southern shore if you’re looking to spend your weekend in a different way.
