Pflugerville is a quiet neighborhood located northeast of the Austin city center. This town is quietly growing and expanding in its own way. This old town has aged quite nicely, and with a rich history, great school system, and warm community, properties here are perfect for any family looking to grow.

This city was founded in 1860 by William Bohls, who had named it after Henry Pfluger, a man who had fled his homeland to escape the Prussian War. This town began small with just a general store and post office, and later expanded to include a blacksmith. The town did not experience any great growth until 1904, when the Missouri-Kansas-Texas railroad made this once small town an important stopping point for trains. Pflugerville has been growing ever since.

Pflugerville has a number of community centered activities throughout the year. Many of these events take place downtown, and include everything from a block party cookout, to a weekly farmer’s market and a large city-wide Christmas celebration. There are so many activities going out every month that you are sure to miss something if you forget to check the city’s calendar online. Some of the city’s activities reflect the German heritage that influenced the city in its early years. The Heritage House Museum also joins the community festivities, hosting some of them on its grounds, allowing the town’s history to play a part in community life.

Close to Pflugerville is a180 acre reservoir called Lake Pflugerville. It is open 24 hours throughout the week, and is perfect for a family weekend together. There are 7 fishing piers along the shore, and while here you can swim and kayak. There is also a 3 mile trail for those who don’t want to get wet. There are also a number of events that happen at Lake Pflugerville like the eponymous triathlon, and 4 of July celebrations. Keep in mind that power boats and bottles are not allowed. The city is also planning a 14 acre park around the lake that will include a boat launch, barbeque facilities and restrooms.

Within town, however, there are a number of activities you can participate in. The community swimming pools offer swim lessons for all ages, as well as water aerobics for those looking to get in shape. There are also a number of community garden spaces available by application that help residents feel more in tune with their neighbors.
